Weekly Haul #1

I don't shop every week and I definitely don't order online every week, but this week I did both!  Space NK was doing a special $20 off $75 so of course I had to order something.  After browsing the site thoroughly multiple times (I'm a super indecisive person) I picked up the Sarah Chapman Ultimate Cleanse.  I've heard several bloggers talk about this recently and I love a good oil/balm cleanser so it seemed like the perfect product to pick up.  I seriously debated making another purchase to get the By Terry Ombre Blackstar but I refrained... for now.  I absolutely love that Space NK send samples with orders and I can't wait to try the three I got: Eve Lom foundation, Eve Lom moisture mask and Goldfaden MD bright eyes.

The other day while out running errands I popped into Victoria's Secret because I had a coupon for a free panty.  When I walked into the store I saw a row of these oversized, long, workout type t-shirts and decided if I had a few of them it might encourage me to exercise more.  In fact, I've agreed to do the Tone It Up Bikini Series with a friend and since that starts next week these won't be sitting around unused for very long.

Spring Cleaning My Closet

I have absolutely no idea what got into me over the weekend, but I woke up Saturday morning and decided it was time to clean out my closet.  However, this time, unlike all other times, I didn't just look through my closet and pull out a few random things I don't wear anymore.  No, this time I tried on every single piece of clothing in my closet and dresser. It took forever!  In the end I donated three massive black bags of clothing and shoes to Goodwill.

What I learned from this process:
* I have a style I like. It might not be the most fashionable, or even original, but most of what sat relatively unworn were things I was trying to make work that just didn't work for me.
* A significant portion of what I donated came from two stores.  Note to self: don't shop there anymore!
* Get rid of things that don't fit or have stains/snags/pulls immediately.  I didn't lose weight, nor did I attempt to fix any of those pieces of clothing and in the end they took up far too much room in my closet for far too long.

On the plus side, the shirt/blouse section of my closet is looking kind of lonely.  Time to get out the credit card!

Shopping the Stash

I've spoken of my love of finishing up products before on this blog (here).  In particular I love finishing up body products because I have a jam packed drawer full of shower gels, body lotion, bath bubbles, etc.  I only allow myself to grab a new product out of the drawer when I finish using another.

It is safe to say I have a little bit of an obsession with body care products partly because it is so easy to stock up on them, especially at the holidays when all the best gift sets are out.  This means my drawer of goodies is pretty much overflowing.  And because I am so indecisive, it takes me ages to actually choose a product from the drawer.  Recently I finished up a travel sized packet of Sanctuary Salt Scrub that I picked up in London.  When it came time to choose from my stash, I went for another product I got in London, the Superdrug Vitamin E Exfoliating Body Scrub.  There is something extra special about using things bought on vacation and I can't wait to see if this is just as good as the rest of the products I brought home.

On a side note, I've noticed all the body scrubs in my drawer are from London and were actually picked up in the drugstore.  Does America even have body scrubs in the drugstore and are any of them actually good? Please let me know if you have any favorites that are easily accessible in the US.

Structured Bag Love

Who loves a structured bag?  I do!!  A good structured bag is classic; it never goes out of style and always make a look come together. I've wanted a new bag for quite awhile, so when I saw this in London I knew I had to get it.  Not going to lie, the fact that Princess Kate shops in L.K. Bennett didn't hurt either.  Regardless, this bag is gorgeous.  The design is super simple, but the hardware and grey leather take it another level.  Like most bags, the inside doesn't really have any compartments but the suede-like interior is so luxurious.  I am so happy with this bag.  I have been using it constantly for about three weeks between meetings with clients, going shopping and running errands and it still looks perfect.

I may have picked up some shoes while at L.K. Bennett as well, but I'll save those for another time.

What I Loved: March 2014

Basically what I loved in March was all the products I brought back from Europe.  I had to narrow it down a bit since I love absolutely everything I purchased, which was a lot!

1. Superfacialist by Una Brennan Tea Flower Deep Clean Pore Purifying Clay Mask: This mask has really helped calm down the few breakouts I've had recently.  I love that this isn't as tight feeling on the skin as the Origins clay mask and leaves my skin feeling really soft after rinsing off.

2. The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-oil: Another go to product for soft skin.  I was looking for a serum to use at nighttime and this one in particular has left my skin soft, hydrated and calm.  It also smells wonderful, sinks in nicely and feels weightless.

3. Soap & Glory Thick & Fast HD Mascara: I was in major need of a new mascara before I left and had my eyes on this mascara.  I actually prefer fairly, long separated lashes and this mascara definitely delivers.  Don't mistake the defined, separated lashes as a lack of volume and thickness because I still get a full lash look with this mascara.

4. Bourjois 123 Perfect Colour Correcting Cream: I actually don't own many light, tinted moisturizer type products.  This fills the hole in my collection.  This CC cream has a very liquid texture and blends super easily.  A great base for when you are in a hurry or just need a little coverage.  I would skip this product if you prefer fuller coverage, as blemishes and dark spots definitely show through.

5. dermophil Lip Balm: I pretty much have no words to describe this lip balm.  I don't know how one lip balm can be better than all the others I've tried in my life but this is seriously good stuff.  If in France make sure to buy multiples!

6. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous Flush:  I admit I didn't buy this in Europe but I did buy it a few days before to take with me.  I love the ambient lighting powder and the blushes are just as good.  I originally had my eye on another color but in the store I was drawn to this one.  The color is a really bright, rosy pink.  These are highly pigmented so a light hand is best to start.

New Hair

True Story: I have natural blonde hair that I started dying dark in high school.  I generally think dark hair suits me more so since I started dying it dark I've rarely changed from shades of brown and red.  However, recently I had a really strong desire to add some blonde back into my hair.  I decided to try a very natural, subtle blonde ombre on the ends.  While  I don't think these photos show the blonde very well, when my hair is up in a bun I can definitely see a difference.  I already want to add more blonde in next time and perhaps more than just ombre!
